I arrived in Malta. I scoped out some fantastic tidepooling areas....I rented a bike to prepare to travel to these areas. I got equipment to tidepool at night. Everything is ready to go.....now to wait for low tide.....

The other day I was at the Museum and there was a Taxidermy gallery of the animals of Europe.

They had a wild boar and I was surprised at how large it was.

This deer with dwarfism was photographed in the Pittsburgh suburb this week. She's small but she's an adult doe.

She also has a very noticeable underbite from the side view. This is a genetic or developmental deformity. Neat to see that she made it to adulthood.

Okay so in parts of Africa there are these biting insects that will feed on a wide range of creatures from humans to caterpillars.

When they feed on humans, the blood is red, but when they bite caterpillars, their version of blood is green. Huh!

I get questions now and then about my dissection photos. It's fairly straight forward:

I dissect the animals
I pin them to a styrofoam board
I take the photos on my phone (Samsung s10)
I clean them up a bit

That's pretty much it
