Over the past few years, a lot has been done to fight #energypoverty. This work must continue, as the war in 🇺🇦 & market manipulation by 🇷🇺 have left their mark & prices are still high. I thank the European Parliament for our debate, which was my last as the EU Commissioner for Energy.
As the new European Commission takes office, I must extend gratitude to our European Solar Champion Kadri Simson Thanks to your immense efforts - like the #EUSolarStrategy - EU solar has almost tripled 📈in the last 5 years Thank you dear Kadri, you have our sincere best wishes ☀
⚡️My mandate as the 🇪🇺 Commissioner for #Energy is now over, but the work on ensuring #energysecurity & a greener future continues. My last interview to Financial Times can be found here👇 ft.com/content/a761a7… These past five years have been an honour & a privilege!

Very excited to start the next chapter of my life as Distinguished Fellow at Columbia Institute of Global Politics
During the Munich Security Conference BMW Foundation organised a panel about how to navigate the tensions between industrial strategies, energy security and the clean energy transition. Great discussion moderated by Jason Bordoff. #MSC2025
How are trade shifts impacting the clean energy economy? 🔴 Starting now: "Trade Policy in an Increasingly Uncertain Global Economy" with: • Sarah Ladislaw (RMI) • Kadri Simson (Center on Global Energy Policy) • Trevor Sutton (Center on Global Energy Policy) • Tatsuya Terazawa (The Institute of Energy Economics, Japan(IEEJ|エネ研)) •
I participated in the panel where Trade Policy in an Increasingly Uncertain Global Economy was discussed. It was good to represent a boringly predictable Europe, explaining CBAM and what role Rus gas still plays. #GlobalEnergySummit Center on Global Energy Policy

Thank you Hanns Koenig for accommodationg this spontaneous and off the record fireside chat. The provocative questions from the audience were also much appreciated. First time for me to attend Aurora Energy Research Spring Forum and certainly worth it!
