Key West Police and Rescue responded to an attempted suicide on Wednesday on the Edward B. Knight White Street Pier. The 47-year old subject had used a knife to cut their throat. The subject was treated on scene for lacerations to the throat and transported to the hospital

A car fire at the Triangle has all inbound lanes to North Roosevelt Blvd blocked. Traffic is being diverted but motorists may experience delays.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: In the interest of public safety, the outer 45 feet of Mallory Square are closed to all traffic, including foot traffic. An assessment shows that there is some deterioration.

The Key West Police Department will be closing Palm Avenue – from Eisenhower to North Roosevelt Blvd – beginning at 10 a.m. today, April 15th, in order to investigate this morning’s critical crash. The road is expected to be closed for about an hour.

Final pavement striping on Eaton St is expected to begin Monday, April 21. Drivers should anticipate partial lane closures and detours two blocks at a time and are asked not to park in posted area. All businesses will remain open and work will be completed on Wednesday, April 23.

The Gardens Hotel owner Kate Miano today presented the Key West Police Mounted Unit with checks totaling over $3,100 -- funds raised in the May Derby Day fundraiser at the hotel.
