Excited to share work UCSFUrology UCSF Health Carroll, Peter in @EurUrolOnc. We show that men with #ProstateCancer stable on #ActiveSurveillance for 5y had moderate upgrade but low mets or death at 15y, supporting AS deintensification in select patients. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39341710/

It’s a rare treat when people get together & say nice stuff about u. I’m very grateful to my UCSFUrology residents, fellows, & friends for telling their stories of times we’ve shared. The values we’ve strived for? Be generous, be genuine, be kind, and be with people who inspire.

Great talk by UW Urology (UCSFUrology) Meera Chappidi on her AS and CanaryPASS work with Daniel Lin. Biomarker application to AS is a key research area that needs to be systematically unpacked. Resonated with the need to identify optimal outcomes; may not be one size fits all.

Incredible state-of-the-art talk by UCSFUrology Sima Porten at #EAU25 on TARs, the novel bladder drug delivery system with great initial trial results. Loved her mnemonic for the Sunrise trials: odd numbers (1, 3, 5) for NMIBC and even (2, 4) for MIBC — simple and brilliant!

Congratulations to one of my mentors UCSFUrology Hao Nguyen on his paper in Cancer Cell! This groundbreaking work on Zotatifin and its role in targeting protein synthesis to kill prostate cancer cells is a major step forward in #prostatecancer research! In Eur Urol Focus, we show that grade group 3 (GG3) prostate cancers are heterogeneous. Unfavorable histology (EC or IDC) was strongly associated with recurrence after surgery, independent of % pattern 4 and CAPRA-S, and may improve risk stratification. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40374413/.
