Nothing like half your brain frantically pondering on all the aspects of radical chemistry you still don't really understand while the other half just desperately wants to sleep...ffs it's 1:30 am

In chemistry, we don’t say “I love you” we instead just include detailed steps of how we prepared the compound in the methods section... and I think that’s really beautiful.

Also several rounds of "okay I'm gonna stop talking about science/work now" as a blatant lie before launching back into something that is definitely science/work

How do we solve a problem that isn't measured? The NSF is not planning to collect sexuality data and is putting a questionable gender identity question only on some surveys. #NSF should do better. sciencemag.org/careers/2020/1…

It is really hard to write a 150 word summary of your undergrad thesis for a graduate school application when the thesis is not yet actually written and the direction of your synthetic pathway is ever evolving and the final product is yet to be seen...

STOCK TIP: often stock solutions in laboratories can get old and lose effectiveness - be sure to write the date on the container.

I got accepted into my first chemistry master's program today!! Im shouting it from all the rooftops! Amsterdam, there's a strong possibility I'm heading your way 😄

Finally heard back from the master's program at NTNU and I have been accepted!!! So now I just have to decide between Norway and the Netherlands for my next two years😅

About to present my undergrad thesis to the department! I know it's only 10 min (it should be anyways) and there's no way for me to like...fail it, but I'm still very nervous! I know I used to perform on stage as a dancer but speaking is very different! 😅😬

Well, I officially have a bachelor's degree in chemistry!! 6 years after leaving high school I have accomplished this step. I'll be honest it's a little underwhelming but I think it's mostly because my brain has already moved on to my move to Norway and starting at NTNU!!

Kristine Halvorsen (@kmh_chem) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I second all of this. My time with the McCormick group was invaluable and I will take everything I've learned as a scientist and as a person with me to NTNU and the rest of my career. I'll forever live by "do good science and save the goddamn world"

Can confirm, i will always miss the tellurorhodamine project but not the occasional whiff of rotten vegetables and burnt rubber

Our latest paper is out. Ever wondered how isomers effect computational investigation of heteroleptic Ni(II) H2 catalysts? Great work Avik Bhattacharjee et al! #DFT #hydrogen #chemsitry pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

A little late, but want to shout out our latest paper on oxidation of tellurium containing rhodamine derivatives, a post graduation publication by two great chemists, Dr. Irving “Deuterolysis” Rettig and Kristine Halvorsen. pubs.rsc.org/en/content/art…
