Sitting here waiting on IO-117 in DM66 NM. Beautiful weather today. No zero horizons but we should do okay with these higher passes coming up this evening.

A 4 Rover IO-117 Pass. Looked like it went well despite numerous stations sending back 73 transmissions and even MULTIPLE 73 transmissions (I got five from one station) which is not necessary for a rover confirmation.

DM 66 NM is a wrap. Onto DM67/68 CO. The 22:33 UTC pass is in daylight. I may have to move to DM69 for the following two passes if the roadside site is assessed to be unsafe on this busy road at dark. I’ll decide that when I see it in person.

DM67/68 gridline much better than I expected. I will be staying all night here as long as State Patrol doesn’t say otherwise if they show up. I’m using my official ambassador flag for protection.

DM67/68 early low ele activation. 1° AOS 7° LOS. Got here early so thought I’d give it a try, 42Qs on very crowded pass. Much better than I expected. Three more passes to go as long as I don’t get moved off my spot.

Mt Elbert, 14,440 feet, Colorado’s tallest mtn peak. That would be the place to setup for IO-117 but a it’s bit of a hike. The majority of each pass will be well above the mountains but don’t expect to hear me at low elevations.

#ROCKYMTNROVE is a wrap. 9 Grids, 9 Days, 972 contacts logged. Only one pass in DN60 was cut short by Wx. One bonus pass in DM67/68. Thanks for all the digipeats along the way. A good nights sleep in Leadville CO tonight and then home tomorrow. Best 73 Jeff

I have finished a pictorial wrap up of the Rocky Mountain Rove Jeffrey C Schwartz. It appears to be a farewell rove to IO-117 which was bound to happen eventually. Thanks for all the 4,909 worldwide roving Qs this last 1.5 years. It's been a blast! ki0kb.com/rocky-mountain…

2 x RS-44 Power passes: 7 Stations, 8 new grids; 3 Rovers, 1 gridline & 1 new DXCC. Thanks to Mitch Ahrenstorff, @KB5FHK, @K6PUD, @N5YIZ, @K7IU, @K5IPA and @YS2CBV. Thanks to all seven stations! Wow, I may have to take the LEO Sats on the road too. Looks like almost as much fun as GC… 😳

Jeffrey C Schwartz For anyone interested I put the 2023 DL88 Rove to BBNP in a PDF file. It's got some great pictures of the area and might be useful for any rovers headed that way who have never been. It's a pretty amazing place. ki0kb.com/a-2023-southwe…
