I just want to point out that I look 1000% ZONED OUT through most of this pod but it was ONLY because I was trying to keep my face away from the microphone so you didn't have to listen to me breathe through the whole thing ๐Ÿ˜‚

YOU ARE HERE: As we wrap up July, a gentle reminder that tropical season typically ramps up AFTER July. On average, 86% of all named systems in the Atlantic form after August 2nd, per NOAA.

Cloudy but quiet across a lot of the area, but storms are moving from east to west as we speak! A few showers and storms are possible after sunset tonight, then we switch to daytime (mainly PM hours) activity Saturday and Sunday.

This tropical disturbance may not ever get a name, but it looks to make its mark on the Gulf Coast for the month of July. With high pressure swirling around, this modified, but intact slug of deep tropical moisture may well give us yet another round of downpours late NEXT week.

Coverage looks far from impressive on future radar this morning, but I'd still expect some pop-ups in between lunch and dinner. Lightning would be the biggest concern.

STEAMY out there just ahead of midday. A few storms already popping up closer to the coast means we'll be watching farther inland for some storms through about 7pm. Bumping right back near 100 for most of next week, but we'll only put rain chances totally away for a day or two.

5:25pm Sunday - Storm in NW Montgomery County is slowly pushing northwest and may be pushing out 40mph wind along with pea sized hail.

We have managed to avoid the triple-digits so far this year, but this week's forecast threatens to change that. Here's a look at the heat!

Max Crawford ๐Ÿ‘ (@kbtxmax) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Double digit heat index in the early evening?? We'll take it. We're set to get at least a couple degrees WARMER from here through the end of the week. Then we turn to a modest shot at rain this weekend.

Finally sat down and finished Gilmore 2. Maybe the silliest daggum movie I've ever seen, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't grinning like an idiot all the way through it. Few too many callbacks, but overall enjoyed it a lot.

There's a new battery storage record in Texas: 6,300 megawatts. Gas and coal plant outages spiked as the sun was going down. It was another high demand day with renewables providing ~45% of the power most of the day. #txlege #txenergy

I, too, will be hanging out on the roof! Bubbaโ€™s is a new business in the community but theyโ€™re already building a legacy of giving here in the Brazos Valley. Happy to sweat up there for a good cause today! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Managed to get down to 71(!) this morning, which would make this the coolest morning since early June. This drier airmass is working wonders for morning comfort levels, but also likely means we're looking at the hottest day of the year (so far) since drier air warms up faster.

We've successfully made it through July without triple digits two years in a row! Meanwhile, on this day in 2023... ๐Ÿ”ฅ Trying to be grateful we "only" got to 98 today!
