Today is #K9VeteransDay in the USA 🇺🇸 so we thought it fitting to mention Smoky. Smoky was found in a Foxhole in New Guinea 🇵🇬 in WW2 and she went on to lead an incredible life with her handler. 👁 👇

A very large inspiration for the NMWDM is the crash of RAF aircraft XH117Z in Sutton Wick, Oxfordshire in 1957 Onboard were 8 Provost Marshal (RAF)/Cdr ASF doghandlers & their dogs For many years, they were all forgotten, The Memorial Mob 🇬🇧 created a plaque there & then designed the NMWDM 🐕

Today, we offer our deepest respects to the family of Group Captain "Paddy" Hemmingway DFC (left of image), who passed away yesterday. He was the Last of The Few. We love this image of him with the Squadron mascot early in WW2. #BattleOfBritain #Dogs
