Netanyahu wants University Administrators to bring military occupation to their own campuses instead of divesting from his military occupation of Palestine. Too many are willing to go along with this unamerican scheme.

This is what happens when the White House and Congress intentionally misrepresent and demonize peaceful antiwar student protests.

If you want to see the real threat to campus safety, look no further than political stunt trips from people like Mike Johnson and Gavin McInnes.

The arrival of a Proud Boys founder at Columbia makes the situation very clear—right wing extremists are capitalizing on peaceful student protest to serve their own political goals. McInnes has a known history of antisemitism.

This isn’t about keeping students safe at all.

This rampant Islamophobia is unacceptable. My sister Ilhan Omar is standing up with the students peacefully demanding a Ceasefire to end the bombing, starving, and killing of Palestinian people. No amount of hatred is going to stop this movement for peace.

Freedom of speech and peaceful assembly are basic constitutional rights.

Student protesters — whether you agree with them or not — have a right to safety & fairness. Responding to peaceful demonstrations with weapons and riot gear escalates tension and makes everyone less safe.

Not only did Columbia make the horrific decision to mobilize NYPD on their own students, but the units called in have some of the most violent reputations on the force.

NYPD had promised the city they wouldn’t deploy SRG to protests.

So why are these counterterror units here?

A dark and shameful day. As Israel starves Palestinians to death and bombs children, the US sends more bombs and warplanes.

History will look back on President Biden - and every member of Congress who voted in support of this legislation - as enablers and supporters of genocide.

Tonight, I voted against the National Security Supplemental.

This bill includes billions of dollars for Israel to procure offensive military aid. Sending Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government the munitions to destroy Gaza is wrong and inconsistent with our foreign policy goals.

I voted no tonight on the foreign aid package for one simple reason: U.S. taxpayers should not be providing billions more to the extremist Netanyahu government to continue its devastating war against the Palestinian people.

I condemn any potential police action on Columbia University's campus. As an educator who personally experienced the over policing of our schools, this is personal to me. We must resist right-wing demagoguery and stop suppressing peaceful protest if we are to keep students safe.

Calling in police enforcement on nonviolent demonstrations of young students on campus is an escalatory, reckless, and dangerous act.

It represents a heinous failure of leadership that puts people’s lives at risk. I condemn it in the strongest possible terms.

Why do we not know more?

Where are the journalists and resources being dedicated to that story?
