The 2023 Minnesota Golf Association Junior Boys' POY and soon-to-be Minnesota Men's Golf freshman Torger Ohe fired a 6-under 65 to sit atop the leaderboard following the opening round of the 99th Minnesota State Junior Boys' Championship Alexandria Golf Club.

Wetzel on course-record 8-under 62: "It was just my day today. Tried to hit away from some pins and end up flagging them, drop a couple of long ones, and before you know it, I'm here. "These days are funny, you don't feel like it's happening and all of a sudden, it's 62."
