Big grocery chains and big suppliers (think Tyson, Proctor & Gamble) each use different methods to push out rivals, leading to a less open market, arbitrary power to set prices, and food deserts. Luckily there's a lot cities can do. My Oped: nytimes.com/2025/07/21/opi…

NEW TONIGHT: Possible ballot stuffing. Absentee fraud. Dead voters. This is the alleged activity officials say prosecutors should investigate in southern Brooklyn nytimes.com/2025/07/25/nyr…

Republicans loooove to scream about rigged elections and vOtEr frAUd. In reality, voter fraud is extremely rare, but when it does happen, it's almost always Republicans doing the rigging. rawstory.com/nyc-voter-fraud

We Dems have taken voters for granted for too long. Take people seriously. Listen. Don’t tell them they’re wrong because the data doesn’t match their fears. Resistance is futile to continue the fight against perception as reality. Resist hysteria and for fuck's sake: empathize!!

Yesterday's storm did a lot of damage in a short amount of time. City agencies are in triage mode but we are doing our best to help prioritize. If you live in Bay Ridge or Coney and have large branches or a tree down, please email us with address & photo. [email protected]

Sole purpose of the Mayor's Charter Commission is to expand his power. City Hall is cynically using the housing crisis as smoke screen rationale when over the past 4 years, New York City Council has approved 120,000+ units & secured over $8B in capital investments. Don't believe the hype!

I was proud to spearhead the New York City Council legislation that made this possible. (Truth be told, I got the idea from DC. Then COVID happened, and it went from an interesting idea to a necessity) Today, New York City is leading the nation in office-to-residential conversions!

Growing up, this was THE sign of summer. Every pizzeria had it. Nothing beat a rainbow ice on a hot today. By the time you were done, the little paper cup was soggy and the ice was dripping down your arm. So few pizzerias still sell Gino's Italian ices but I am ON THE HUNT!

A budget is a moral document and ultimately about choices. You spend your $ on what you need & care about, right? City budget is no different. If we want to make NYC more affordable, we must focus our investments on programs & priorities that will bring down the cost of living.
