Almost a year ago, Chief Justice Luckert delivered the 2022 State of the Judiciary address to Governor Laura Kelly and #ksleg. As we plan for this year’s address, we want to highlight some accomplishments from the last year. #kscourts Follow #KSCourtsYearInReview

It was an honor being sworn in by Chief Justice Luckert for another term serving on the Kansas Supreme Court. I’ll be at a law school symposium today in Massachusetts, so will miss the inaugural festivities. But I wish every Kansas official being sworn in today the very best.

Pat was everything a judge should be. Kindness, dignity and an always-on curious intellect. He loved the law and Kansas. And more importantly (to me), he befriended and mentored a young court of appeals judge a decade ago. A great loss, but I'm grateful to have been his friend.
