Uche Perkins Sr. Their whole notion is to rely on other people’s children to care for them. And to suck on the blood of a future tax base that comes from current births today.

Just because you have no obligation to your parents who wiped your ass when you were young, doesn’t mean the rest of us don’t feel that way.

Anyway, I’m glad I moved to a family friendly city with my husband. It was getting so depressing seeing no kids out playing, no one trick or treating on Halloween, people not decorating outside for Christmas, neighbors getting older and older, etc

Uche Perkins Sr. People are being so delusional about this because they don't want to admit that there are potential cons to being 'childfree'. I don't think people should be forced to have kids but come on now...

Long term care insurance can cover bills, but it won’t visit you, advocate for you, or care whether you’re lonely. The fact we compare kid to policies shows how fragile our social fabric has become, when family bonds weaken, we’re left treating aging as a transaction.

Uche Perkins Sr. Kids, if they’re raised right, will visit and advocate and care for you without question because you as a parent did right by them. The kids are the opposite of the policy; they’re the wealth that’s compounded so that you don’t have to worry about the advocacy, visits or care.

I am convinced a lot of you have not experienced dealing with an aging relative who is dealing with serious health ailments. If you did, you would understand what I am saying is the truth.

knowledgeable_black_man 🇸🇱🇬🇭🇨🇬🇨🇱🇦🇷🇭🇹 Uche Perkins Sr. Both my parents families had a large network for support. My mom was one of 9, 4 boys and 5 girls. Their father was well taken care of by all nine and then my grandmother by 8. Even my mom's eldest sister was care for by her and 2 of her sisters

No wonder some of the local housing departments are asking us landlords to convert our properties to be more accessible to disabled individuals. And you know what I might take them up on it.

Uche Perkins Sr. def consider renting to group homes for the developmentally disabled/mentally r and such. I used to work for one and the staff and clients really take care of the homes well as the clients are practicing life skills every single damn day.

a lot of people are depending on others to take care of them when they don't really have the money or the familial connection we hear about how cruel people are how no one looks out for other people People don't look out for strangers and now you put yourself in that role

Slavery was bad. That shouldn’t be controversial. And it wasn’t that long ago. My grandpa, the man in my profile picture, grew up hearing directly from his own grandparents who were enslaved. Through him, their knowledge and stories were passed down to me. That history is close.
