Sad to see so many progressives falling for the lie that you must choose between caring about the state of the world OR enjoying art. It's a false dichotomy.

That is not how social change works and this lie is repeatedly used to justify cutting funding for the arts.

I'm not great at math but something tells me if you have $30M to install vape detectors, you have money to install air filtration.

Vaping is a real problem in Ontario schools, I won't deny that. But this budget is wild in light of the lines he's fed us the last 4 years.

It's 2024 and progressives are still referring to bigots as 'inbreds' when incest is the most common form of sexual violence. Not to mention the hardcore ableist overtones of it all.

I'm an activist AND I've trained other activists on de-escalation, bystander intervention, creative resistance, etc.

Spontaneous =/= more pure. AND even if a movement seems 'spontaneous', it's actually rolling on the waves of previous movements.

At my MA convocation, I attended the ceremony but made a big show of refusing the Prez's handshake because she'd tried to sue me for my activism. As a first-in-family, it was scary but 0 regrets.

I respect the hell out of students doing the same right now. It's important.

So many reasons to give up these days but remember : That's what systems of power are counting on.
