#Bass 'Look into the eye' Black eye occasionally opaque/or a flecked iris appear to be early sign of AI. Mingling among healthy birds. Sadly we saw the first chick fitting, the eye cloudy. Is it a haemorrhage?Thoughts and debate . It's neurogical. Necropsy may bring understanding

If you use a spot-on flea treatment like frontline on yr pet, here’s how its astonishingly toxic active ingredient fipronil & deadly breakdown products get into the environment. One dog-dose suffices to kill 60 million bees. It was found in every river recently tested. Think on.

It's not unusual to find a few dead seabirds washed ashore on Barra's beaches at this time of year, but the numbers of dead Fulmars in recent weeks is concerning: we've found 16 in past ten days alone, way more than usual. Got a bad feeling about this...

Spring definitely springing. Small tortie butterfly in the garden , chiff chaffs singing and the birds breaking off old twigs for nesting ☀️☀️

The UK is home to 73 million fewer birds this #DawnChorusDay than it was in 1970. This staggering decline of almost a third is almost impossible to comprehend, so we have created a website that allows you to see what’s changed in your area 👉 bto.org

Back from monitoring seabirds on Isle of Canna. Thankfully no sign of birds currently being affected by bird flu, but following last summer's outbreak razorbill down 32%, guillemot down 58% and fulmar down 68%. Shag, kittiwake and puffin OK.

We may look at our cliffs and assume perfect for seabirds but what affects colony creation, utilisation, growth and abandonment is a multifaceted question. insights 👇

EMPTY LEDGES. First visit to North Sutor colony revealed the extreme impact bird flu, storms and rising sea temps have had on seabirds. Cormorants down by 36% to only 86 nests, shags by 60% to 60 nests and Guillemots down by a massive 83% on last year.

It's been a very worrying start to the season for Guillemots on the Isle of May, with large swathes of the cliffs remaining hauntingly empty... #seabird #island #fieldwork #Scotland
