Cocoa, coffee or rubber farmers need to get a fair price for their products. That’s why we joined 69 other organisations calling on the EU to require companies to check if their suppliers are being paid a living income. #CSDDD EU Council European Parliament fairtrade-advocacy.org/wp-content/upl…

5 years ago today our award-winning report w/ Mongabay, The Secret Deal to Destroy Paradise, exposed a vast planned oil palm plantation set to destroy pristine Indonesian forest twice the size of Greater London. So, what has happened since?🧵bit.ly/46vSfqX

Lights🔦 Camera🎥 Action🎬 This week, along with The Consumer Voice, The European Public Health Alliance (EPHA) and Eurogroup For Animals, we shone a spotlight on the European Commission. Why? It's not delivered key #EUFarm2Fork promises made to Europeans. We can't eat broken promises!🤥 #BrokenPromisesBrokenPlanet

The #COP28 is over. Hard not to feel deflated knowing the majority of countries wanted to see explicit agreement on a fossil fuel phaseout, and developing country calls for extra finance to deliver it were so clear. But the reality is still that progress ⭐️ has been made today…

With the Strategic Dialogue on the Future of Agriculture announced by Ursula von der Leyen about to start on 25 January, we see renewed attacks on the 🇪🇺 green policies #EUGreenDeal - and a purported “overregulation”. Let’s do a quick reality check 🤓 🧵👇

Much of the reporting on European farmers’ protests point to environmental regulations, in particular the Farm-to-Fork strategy (F2F), as the source of anger. Not only is that narrative incomplete, it is also dangerous. A thread on why farmers aren’t a monolithic group. 🧵

The European Commission’s proposal to remove basic environmental conditions in the #CAP is anti-democratic & feeds the false narrative that we must pick between environment or agriculture. We urge Ursula von der Leyen to withdraw the proposal. Read the joint statement: clientearth.org/latest/documen…

Very proud to see this study, which I've been working on over the past year, come out today! Regulating ready-made meals could reduce the same amount of GHG emissions as taking 38m cars off the road every year- and save consumers money.

Across the world, forest destruction is increasing, fuelling the climate crisis and collapsing ecosystems. The #EUDR is the beginning of the forest fightback. President Ursula von der Leyen: #DefendEUDR by ensuring timely & full implementation.

We believe in an environmentally, economically and socially just world where people influence, improve and help implement decisions that affect them, their forests and the climate. As X is increasingly reducing space for such issues, we are no longer active on this platform.

This is wild. European countries import coffee and cocoa from Africa and then re-export at an average 300% mark-up. This tactic was widely used by Europeans during the colonial period and it continues to be used today. tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.108…
