This is news but it's hardly unexpected. Judge Cannon seems desperate to avoid trying this case. This isn't justice. defendants aren't the only ones with speedy trial act rights, we the people have them too.

The jury just got a direct lesson in how important it was to Trump & the campaign that Stormy Daniels' story not become public after the Access Hollywood tape. Today, all of Trump's bad conduct is baked in. That wasn't the case in 2016; he was vulnerable in that moment.

The Judge is sustaining the defense's objections to prosecution questions or Stormy's responses about details of her sexual encounter with Trump. But that comes at a cost for the defense, because it makes them look to the jury like they have something to hide.

Epshteyn has just been indicted in connection with the 2020 election in Arizona. Another one of Trump's lawyers who may soon face his own day in court.

This case was set for trial on May 20, which obviously won't happen. It should have been ready to try by the end of last year. Extending the 5(a) deadlines indefinitely is the same thing as giving Trump an indefinite trial delay.
