I got a group to feel sorry for a beholder last night. They made it to some sewers on the edge of a watertown and were immediately within it's anti-magic cone field, they hid fought some rats and crocodiles they disturbed but it attracted the beholder to them. #dnd #dndstories

Upon insight/perception they saw the beholder was wagging some of it's eyestalks like a dog. Some of them went closer and saw it had a sort of collar around it's eye, "Gilly". They then began to baby talk it and pet it like a dog. #dnd #dndstories

When they tried to feed it, Gilly hovered back to a corner with a table, rotting bed and blanket with a petrified human sitting next to a petrified dog and two piles of gray ash. Successful insight revealed that the beholder was raised from it's creation as a dog #dnd #dndstories

Only recently had begun to use it's eye beams but cant control them. Gilly petrified his owner and packmates. As they watched Gilly sleep after he ate they saw his eye stalks flicker red and he started to shake. #dnd #dndstories
