We have a duty to honor what God objectively revealed.

God does not have a duty to honor our guesses about what He revealed.

That’s why Christ endowed His Catholic Church with His authority, to maintain the truth Faith, through all time, for all people, amidst endless disputes.

THE CONTINUITY OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH AND THE PAPACY

“Of all the ecclesiastical powers in the Christian world, only one perpetually and unchangingly preserves its central and universal character and at the same time is specially connected by an ancient and widespread tradition

I can definitely agree with this list.

But another top 5 I think would be worthwhile would be:

1. Bible
2. Aristotle, Politics
3. St. Augustine, City of God
4. St. Athanasius, The Incarnation
5. St. Thomas Aquinas, Summa

Time will tell where this goes.

But I can say the Rosary has changed my life; and I’ve seen many, many conversions when it is prayed for people.

No one wants souls to come to Jesus more than His Mother.

ANCIENT CHURCH FATHER: THE UNITY OF THE CHURCH IS A REFLECTION OF GOD; EVIL SEEKS TO DIVIDE THE CHURCH INTO SECTS

The ancient Christians were everywhere as clear and unanimous as the Scriptures about the unity of the one true church, the Catholic Church, built on the Apostles…

I find this quite strange...when it comes to sola fide in particular, the issue is quite minor in the grand scheme of our soteriological differences.

Even your own authors occasionally interpret fiducia as essentially being fides formata (i.e., faith working by love). Why?…

ANCIENT CHURCH FATHER: RULERS ARE INSTRUMENTS OF MERCY IF THEY LIVE ACCORDING TO THE CATHOLIC FAITH, AND OBEY THEIR MOTHER, THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

If Christ didn’t institute an authority to render judgment in theological disputes, then there will always be another book, another debate, another scholar, etc.

But if He did, then at some point the debate ends, the issue is resolved, and the Christian mind is settled.

Here’s the setting I changed to prevent porn bots, without restricting replies to verified accounts:

On my desktop (couldn’t on mobile):

—Privacy and safety
—Content you see
—Uncheck “display media that may contain sensitive content”

So far, so good.

ANCIENT CHURCH FATHER: BAPTISM REGENERATES AND ILLUMINATES US

The patristic understanding of baptism is so beautiful, and everywhere Catholic.

When I began reading them, I was truly shocked at how different their understanding was from what I grew up with. And they were
