Seattle’s (and WAC’s) loss is San Diego State’s gain as Aztecs land 5-10 PG Darrion Trammell. Dynamic playmaker & defender was 1st-team All-WAC as covid sophomore in 2021-22 (17.3 PPG, 5.0 APG, 2.5 SPG, .344 3PT) for league champs.

Big pull for Sam Houston & coach Jason Hooten in Wichita State transfer Qua Grant. 6-1 combo guard is a tough, all-around Texan who was a two-time D2 All-American at West Texas A&M before averaging 16 MPG last season for Shockers.

Wow: Memphis transfer Emoni Bates commits to hometown school Eastern Michigan. Being out of national spotlight should help 6-9 wing after inconsistent, injury-filled freshman season at Memphis. Getting stronger is key to former #1 high school prospect reaching his potential.

New Western Kentucky coach Steve Lutz led Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to back-to-back NCAA Tournament trips in 2 seasons & a First Four win this year. His teams are smart, tough & disciplined. Fully expect more success for him with WKU’s resources & tradition.

13 seed Louisiana fell just short in upset bid against 4 seed Tennessee in 1st round of NCAA Tournament. Special season for Bob Marlin’s Ragin’ Cajuns, star big Jordan Brown (really hope he returns for another year) & Company.

March Madness at its finest as Florida Atlantic wins a Round of 68 thriller over Memphis for program’s first NCAA Tournament win. Magical season continues for Owls & coach Dusty May, a former Indiana student manager under Bob Knight who has built a winner in Boca Raton.

Jersey Strong: Fairleigh Dickinson stuns Purdue to become first No. 16 seed to win multiple games in same NCAA Tournament. Knights are only second 16 seed to beat No. 1 seed in March Madness. Remarkable work by FDU & former D2 coach Tobin Anderson with nation’s shortest team.

Kansas State downs Kentucky in matchup of Wildcats to earn trip to Sweet 16. Amazing job by Jerome Tang as a first-year head coach in Manhattan. Markquis Nowell & Keyontae Johnson lead a tough, confident squad that’s so fun to watch.
