Democrats should be doing everything they can to force a vote and make clear that they oppose a war with Iran that an overwhelming majority of Americans opposes. It would be a massive failure of leadership not to do so.

This is a crisis moment, and any Democratic leader who won’t step up should be asking why they’re in the role. The rest of us should be asking why we let them stay there.

Barack Obama reached a deal that prevented Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. Trump ripped up that deal. Now we are at war with Iran to prevent it from getting a nuclear weapon.

I have to say it’s very embarrassing that a lot of congressional Democrats are running to a “process argument” about the war against Iran instead of just plainly saying in simple language: Americans do not want war. It feels like a dodge, not leadership.

Now is the time for values-based arguments against war with Iran. NOT process (“Come to Congress”) ones. If asked for permission to go to war with Iran we must make it clear the answer is HELL NO. We need lower costs not costly wars.

In certain circles, Democrats seem confident that you have to fight fire with fire to beat MAGA: be a strident jerk, all caps tweeting, get angry, etc. Seems worth pointing out that two rising stars of the last 12 months, Mamdani and Talarico, both seem really nice.
