Interesting Clinical Infectious Diseases article out today. In retrospective study of 150 pts with HAP who died: 1/5 HAPs were potentially preventable 1/12 deaths following HAP were preventable Much lower #s than I would have guessed Alexander Tatara, MD PhD academic.oup.com/cid/advance-ar…

The BCx shortage has affected many of us. In collaboration with Valeria Fabre, Dan Diekema, and my mentor Dr. Van, we published in Open Forum Infectious Diseases our approach to the shortage, emphasizing the importance of implementing BCx stewardship academic.oup.com/ofid/advance-a…

While N fowleri is often described causing PAM from nasal irrigation with exposures including tap water or lakes, this article describes a case from an indoor swimming pool in 🇹🇼 (where water is exchanged every 2 months 😱) 😳😳😳 wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/30…

Joseph Marcus Clinical Infectious Diseases Heather Yun Alice Barsoumian, MD Couldn't agree more - while there may be different drivers, looking at average # of research projects/publications across specialties - typically much lower for ID than cardiology/GI/Onc. More exposure = more excitement in the field!

This is a great article. Case reports are often seen as the mentoring version of phoning it in. We need to engage with the trainees, and have them do much more meaningful work. If we help them see the meaning Academic ID can bring to our lives, we will have them excited.

Excited for an upcoming week on the ID teaching service! Will post pearls and/or other things of interest that come up this week To start, here’s a thread of tips intended for new fellows, but worth reviewing for more experienced consultants, too! x.com/AllisonRBond/s…
