The PREVENT trial showed that preventive #PCI of focal non-FFR-positive plaques that are angiographically >50% & have evidence of vulnerability on intravascular imaging along w/ OMT is superior to OMT for clinical outcomes at 2 years. Read more: bit.ly/3xuHWrl #ACC24

You may have heard of the "5-6-7-8" rule for LM-LAD-LCx stent MSAs to reduce long term MACE, but this new study in CircInterventions suggests that bigger MSAs are needed. A new "6-8-12" rule? ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/CI…).

Honored to work with my friends on such an important contribution to the #CHIP #PCI field! The manual of complex and high-risk #PCI. It will help everyone in the field! Thanks, CHIP-LATAM and SOLACI , for the opportunity #cardiotwitter #atherectomy #IVL #ACCFIT

Understanding the etiology of left ventricular hypertrophy is increasingly important due to the increasing number of targeted therapies coming online. Listen to Drs. Timothy C. Wong and Sidney C. Smith Jr. discuss pitfalls in the diagnosis of HCM: bit.ly/3X5udSg

Diltiazem Deficiency Disorder? 🙅🏾‍♀️ A gentle reminder that not every patient with rapid afib/flutter should be treated with the diltiazem death challenge ⭐️Think twice before ordering diltiazem if you haven’t looked at the EF ⭐️Unstable? ⚡️shock! ⭐️Stable? 🛑Consider alternatives

Another gem at #TCT2024 that many here had hypothesized: For Medina 1:1:1 DES for the main branch and DCB for the side branch resulted in lower TLR. If DCBs weren’t so costly in the USA, this approach could quickly become the standard. It’s far simpler, faster, and reduces

Native heart recovery is the optimal outcome for a heart failure patient. UPMC focused on NHR and recovered 39% of our cardiogenic shock patients receiving Impella 5.5 in 2024. Looking forward to when HF programs post how many Heart Recovery pts they had instead of #OHtx/VAD.

Using PREMIER database - Cardiogenic Shock patients that were transferred patients were more likely to receive VAD or Transplant. While in 2017 there was higher mortality in transfer patients that difference was not seen in more recent data-2023 Joseph Ibrahim, MD UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute #ACC25

ECLIPSE publ today in Lancet. In 2005 pts with severe lsn calcification by angiography that did not absolutely require atherectomy, there were no sig differences in acute MSA or 1-year TVF with orbital atherectomy vs. balloon pre-dilatation. Free link: authors.elsevier.com/a/1krhgV-4XSfdR
