Queen of the jungle: this female #seahorse (Hippocampus guttulatus) seemed to control everything from its seagrass throne. #seagrassmeadow #wildlife

This octopus was on a rock eating a crab when it decided to move away. Notice how it does not let go of its prey, keeping it in its arms while jetting away. #cephalopods #octopus

We have just initiated the project Hippo-DEC: "Diagnosis of the Conservation Status of Seahorses in the Spanish Coast, Critical Areas and Conservation Measures". The new website will be launched soon. Stay tuned. #seahorses #conservation x.com/hippo_dec

Mesmerized by the incredible symbiosis captured in this photo 📸 The ringneck blenny (Parablennius pilicornis) finding its perfect home within the intricate branches of a bryozoan (Pentapora foliacea). Nature's architects at work! 🌊 #MarineLife #UnderwaterWorld #Biodiversity

In sandy bottoms, octopuses must get creative to build their own refuge. This little octopus ingeniously uses a scallop shell to construct its home. However, it doesn't live alone, as a sea hare decided to move into the neighborhood. 🐙📷#octopus #underwaterhabitats

Stumbled upon this adorable baby octopus while exploring the depths of Cies Islands! 🐙 Caught in the act of mimicking seaweed with its two arms up, trying to blend in. Nature's camouflage game on point! 🌊 #Octopus #CiesIslands #Cephalopods

Check out this amazing #cuttlefish blending into the seafloor! Its coloration and texture provide perfect camouflage, making it nearly invisible to predators and unsuspecting prey alike. #Cephalopods #Camouflage #RíadeVigo

Octopuses found in sandy bottoms exhibit fascinating behavior, feeding on bivalve molluscs and crafting shelters for rest. Understanding their ecological role in these environments unveils insights into marine biodiversity and ecosystem dynamics. #Cephalopods #Octopus🐙🌊

Sad to see the impact of ghost fishing gear on marine life like this catshark (Scyliorhinus canicula). Notice the groove in the head, just above the gill slits. Ghost nets can entangle and harm marine animals, affecting their ability to breathe and survive. #GhostFishing #Sharks

In Galicia, there are around 3,300 mussel rafts producing a total of 270,000 tons annually. This represents 94% of Spain's production and 50% of the global output. #Galicia #MusselFarming #Aquaculture

This cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis) was trying to go unnoticed on top of algae. Only when I got very close did it rise from its hiding place, still maintaining its camouflage pattern. #cephalopods #cuttlefish #camouglage

Happy to share our new paper: Observational evidence of egg guarding in wild European squid, out today in Ecology and Evolution onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…. In this study, after monitoring egg masses in the wild, evidence of egg guarding in Loligo vulgaris has been observed.

Witnessed the magic of a Northern Lights display in Bergen this September (a rare treat for this time of year). 🌌✨ Auroras are created when charged particles from the sun collide with Earth's atmosphere, producing vibrant waves of light in the sky. Feeling incredibly lucky!
