Semi-related: I recently learned that my teen and several of their friends believed you get AIDS by "getting shit in your blood" and none of them can remember where they heard it. All raised in different towns before HS. Science comms aren't great, how does this play out?

I'm in an 8-month wilderness survival intensive course, so obviously we're going to be learning and practicing wilderness survival. And I was still *shocked Pikachu face* when our instructors took us out in the rainy woods at 3:30 yesterday and said "Good luck, see you tomorrow"

I highly recommend installing the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine browser extension. It'll allow you to make an independent archive of a webpage with just 2-clicks. It also lets you view archived versions of a page just as easily; very handy when hitting 404s.

I'm trying to imagine a person learning this way and becoming a software engineer, dealing with variables that don't have real-world equivalents ("decodedCookie" and "encodedCookie" come to mind) or are one letter different ("decodedCookies" [ ] vs "decodedCookie" string)

That 5 minute meeting you scheduled? That’s actually called β€œcontext switching” and it can take a developer 3-5 years to regain their full focus. Please be more mindful next time

When I was a low-income ($15-25k) single mother and ft student with multiple part time jobs, Medicaid provided insurance for me and my daughter, but the 9pg re-cert every 3 months that required tax returns, job insurance info, sections for boss to fill out, etc. were burdensome.
