A1: The corrective statements were a result of the DOJ litigation and documented fraud by the tobacco industry. For now, the e-cig story is different. But, there is a fine line between current marketing and being deceptive. #ATSChat

A2: A positive impact! Menthol eases the irritation from nicotine and smoke generally, and some flavorings may harm the lungs. The proposed rules could make a positive difference.

A3: Menthol and mint flavored e-cigarettes will remain more tempting than unflavored e-cigarettes. #ATSchat

A4: This unfortunate and dramatic increase shows that we are not ready to contend with today's marketplace. The new policies need to be implemented with rapid-response capability in mind. #ATSChat

A5: Above all, we need to protect youth and young adults. Moving towards a national restriction of sales to those 21 and above could help. Toxicity testing for all flavorings is needed. #ATSChat

Q6: For pediatricians, educate, educate, educate. Parents and their children need to understand that e-cigarettes pose great risk. #ATSChat

A6b: For nicotine-addicted adults, there are U.S. FDA approved treatments including nicotine replacement therapy. #ATSChat
