Jonathan Chevreau John De Goey My own financial plan is currently based on after-costs portfolio average returns of inflation+2.5% for the rest of my life. So, I agree with John that others assume returns that are too high. But "danger for investors in the second half of 2024" sounds like a prediction.

I really hope it doesn’t need to be said, but swapping a 5.5% GIC upon maturity for a 5.5% yielding dividend stock is odd. 2 very different products with different risk and return characteristics, other than potentially the yield (which is taxed differently).
