Upper St. Clair’s Peja Strobl has agreed to a 2-year deal w/ Rasta Vechta, I’m told. The skillful guard has excelled repping Austria on international stages (U16B’s, BWB Europe, NBA Academy Games) and will now develop in Germany until a stateside return for college in 2026.

Yuto Kawashima has committed to Seattle in the class of 2024, I’m told. The 6’7” Japanese forward has been developing w/ the NBA Global Academy and playing NBL1 w/ the Centre of Excellence this season. A staple of Japan’s youth teams in FIBA Asia Cup and FIBA World Cup events.

Made it to Heraklion for FIBA U16 EuroBasket. Slovenia beats Poland 81-66 to kick things off. Stefan Joksimović (🎥) and Lukas Bojović form one of event’s most dynamic backcourts. 20 PTS, 8 REB, 5 AST, 1 BLK for Joksimović — exceptional showing for the 6’4” 15-year-old lefty.

Awesome battle between Serbia and Germany here at the FIBA U16’s in Heraklion. Real Madrid teammates-to-be, Andrej Bjelić and Fabian Kayser, duking it out. Bjelić knocked down six threes, many coming via deep off-the-dribble pull-ups, leading Serbia to a narrow win.

Spain’s ball pressure and balanced attack outclassed Finland here at the U16’s. Lucas Sanchez was the best player on the floor, finishing w/ 16 PTS, 8 AST, 5 REB, 2 STL in poised fashion. Saba Merebashvili was physical/disruptive defensively and finished w/ a game-high 20 PTS.

Israel takes down Italy by a score of 73-65 here at the FIBA U16 EuroBasket in Heraklion. The Israeli backcourt duo of Aviv Aronov and Amitay Azriel was spectacular. Combined for 49 points while committing only 2 turnovers. Both fearless scorers and tough as nails.

Serbian big man, Andrija Vuković, has signed w/ Oklahoma State in the c/o 2024, I’m told. Brings great size to the Cowboys’ frontcourt at 6’11”, 265 lbs w/ a nice combo of mobility, interior finishing, screen-setting, soft hands, defensive positioning, and fight on the glass.
