Trauma doesn't make people stronger. It damages their nervous system. It hijacks their digestive tract. It keeps the person in a constant loop of hypervigilance. To tell someone they are stronger because of trauma they endured is to deny what it cost them to survive it.

In general, Ramadan is more widely acknowledged in secular media than Lent. So if a politician says ‘Ramadan Mubarak’ but doesn’t say ‘blessed Lent,’ it might reflect ignorance rather than malice.

We need to recognize our sins to convert. This itself is a sign and testimony of the Resurrection, as it means we will not remain among the ashes, but that we will rise up and rebuild. Only then will the Easter Triduum, which we will celebrate as the summit of the Lenten journey,
