Yesterday was a good day for #solar at home. Every time someone installs solar on their roof, it saves them money and reduces demand for hydrocarbons. Yesterday’s sun would send my car from Kent to Cardiff. Not true in January of course, but it’s all incremental….

Official data is in for Q1 2025: Texas built more solar than any other state. Texas built more wind than any other state. Texas built more storage than any other state.

Most people have no idea what will be blindly obvious by 2030: solar + storage are taking over, everywhere and opened the era of energy super-abundance. Countries which allow renewables to build and connect fastest will win. Simple, and open to any and all countries

Wonderful to be in #Burundi doing the ‘Tour de Burundi’ to raise funds for #GreatLakesOutreach who do fantastic work to in the world’s second poorest country. Please do consider sponsoring me. I’ll personally match anything up to my £10,000 target - justgiving.com/page/johnmurto…

One of the most important charts anywhere: China is decisively moving from a model where renewables were meeting new demand to one where they are actively cutting into the market share of coal and gas - all driven by exponential growth in wind + solar and increasing

Great stuff. I installed a (2nd) battery a year ago and it’s already 65% paid off (on an admittedly favourable tariff). If you’ve got a good roof (slope, orientation and accessibility), it makes sense to use it.

Every business owner with a flat roof should watch this…. 👀. Solar often pays for itself far quicker than you might think. Richard Symons - RSEV - how do you see the economics of adding more? (If your roof permits it). My 2nd battery has almost paid for itself in a year….

A question for Times columnist Sebastian Payne: What is this cheaper source of "energy" that you speak of? The world's energy experts would like to know…

Not sure this is right Sebastian Payne... what power source is cheaper than renewables? International Energy Agency says utility scale solar + onshore wind are cheapest. We can argue about UK govt policy + cost shifts but that fact hasn't changed, I think?

Always useful to be reminded of this. Also, thanks to innovations in time-of-use pricing, those fortunate enough to have access to home charging can charge cars very cheaply, too… c£4.50 for 300 miles.
