Deeply saddened and thinking fondly of Kathryn Bevis who sadly passed away this morning. Such a loss. Her legacy for warmth, kindness and astoundingly good poems, like this beauty, from our most recent issue, lives on.

Kathryn, you are so admired and greatly loved by so many.

So sad to learn of the death of Kathryn Bevis. I knew her first of all as a kind soul who cheered other poets on, then as my student. Later, I watched her soar and I used her stunning, resonant work in my teaching. Thinking of her family and many friends. xxx

Elizabeth Bishop, on being asked by an interviewer what one quality every poem should have: β€œSurprise. The subject and the language which conveys it should surprise you. You should be surprised at seeing something new and strangely alive.”

The Woodpecker Pecks, but the Hole does Not Appear

It's hard to imagine how unremembered we all become,
How quickly all that we've done
is unremembered and unforgiven

Just want to thank Flight of the Dragonfly - Spoken Word, e-Journal and John McCullough πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ for last night's gig. The venue was more full than I have ever seen it. Thank you too to every single Open Miccer who came and made the evening a fitting tribute to 5 years of Flight of the Dragonflies <3
