#Terrorist use of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) is a great threat to civilians. UN Office on Drugs & Crime & United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research signed a MoU to strengthen cooperation on countering IEDs 🇺🇳. We used United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research's C-IED Capability Maturity Model & Self-Assessment Tool in 🇨🇮🇲🇻🇵🇰🇱🇰 to enhance #CIED capabilities.

This is a big win against human trafficking & migrant smuggling. UN Office on Drugs & Crime supported INTERPOL Operation Liberterra II across 116 countries through cross-border cooperation, information sharing & case detection. Joint action is key to stop criminals exploiting people for profit.

I welcome the landmark adoption of the new Cybercrime Convention by the #UNGA. As the first anti-crime treaty in 20 years, this is a major win for multilateralism. UN Office on Drugs & Crime will be supporting Member States to sign, ratify and implement this new tool, for a safer digital world.
