- Day tickets in the West End

All gone in the last 10 years.

Where is the infrastructure for emerging theatre makers now?

God this has depressed me.

We have lost so much in the last 12 months. Brilliant companies, festivals, buildings.

All the hard, awesome, messy grassroots stuff. Gone.

We’ve got to start talking about the fact there isn’t enough money in the system.

Oh yes yes yes to all of this 👇I remember many an interview as an assistant director where they would mimic my accent in a jokey way and make me feel stupid. Also- assumption I was stupid because I have a northern accent. Snore.

The energy that has been devoted to trigger warnings this week…

A reflection.

I’m currently working on an amazing project where everyone in the process has caring responsibilities.

The graft is really hard and deadlines short.

But the weight that is lifted when everyone just allows for others needs is amazing. The creativity is huge.

Warnings have been in place in film for decades. At the cinema, the first thing you see is the BBFC card that says something like ‘contains scenes of sexual violence etc’. To allow for informed choice.

So explain to me again how a small, discrete warnings are ruining theatre?
