8/18: A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH has been issued for much of the piedmont until 10 PM. This means the weather conditions are in place for storms to develop and become severe with damaging winds and large hail being the primary threats.

3:40 PM 8/18: This line of storms near Lenoir is our cold front. As this front moves off the mountains and into the foothills, I expect storms to blossom and potentially become severe. Stay with Severe Weather Center 9 throughout the day. I've got the details coming up at 6.

4:38 PM 8/18: This storm over Gaffney could have some 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail in it. It's moving due east at 20 mph.

5:50 PM 8/18: We have warnings all along this front as it moves south. These storms may be producing 60 mph wind gusts and torrential downpours. Details coming up next on Eyewitness News at 6.

Getting major reports of damage in and around Troutman from storms earlier today. Extensive damage to docks and boat houses. Sounds like classic straight line wind damage. Thinking of all those impacted this evening.

It sure was nice while it lasted, but the heat & humidity are making a comeback in the Carolinas this week. With the humidity, it will feel more like 100-104. I'll tell you when we could see some relief in the form of rain coming up right now on Eyewitness News at Noon.

5:15 PM 9/1: Storms are moving into Lincoln, Gaston & York Counties with heavy rain, lightning and 40 mph wind gusts at times. It's slowly driftng East at 10 mph. With so many folks outdoors this weekend, make sure you seek safe shelter when thunder roars.

5:30 PM 9/1: It's getting loud over in Gaston & York Counties! This storm is producing a lot of lightning and heavy rain. Its moving slowly to the east and could moving towards the whitewater center in the next hour.

Heads Up Lake Norman! We have storms with a lot of lightning moving over the lake near Denver and Cornelius! Folks on the Lake should head for some safe harbor until this storm passes.

A GROUND STOP has been issued at Charlotte Douglas as this line of storms with lightning approach the area. Be prepared for delays if you are picking people up this evening.

7:25 PM 9/1: This line of storms continues to producing heavy rain and lightning as it moves SE at 15 mph. Here's the latest timing.

7:25 PM 9/1: We have a flood advisory up for Mecklenburg County until 10:45 PM. This area in SE Charlotte has seen 2-4 inches of rain this evening and runoff will lead to minor flooding in urban areas of the city. Be careful out on the roads this holiday weekend!

Our Puma Cub has arrived! Baby Eleanor made her grand entrance into the world just after Midnight Tuesday morning. My wife Emily did just amazing! Both mom & baby are happy & healthy. 😊 I’m off for the next few weeks to enjoy our sweet girl. #GirlDad
