The first step in the process is to determine your niche and identify the keyword you want to rank on page one for.

So we head over to the keyword tool for Google which is at http://www.googlekeywordtool.com/.

I am going to use a live example with one of my page one blogs. If you type in Auto Bad Credit into Google you will see my blog ranked

either 3rd or 4th on page one. That blog is www.autobadcredit.org which I monetized with Google adwords. So when I first went to the tool

I put the words auto loan in. I found out that there was way to much competition with this word, how? Good question:) First there are 823,00

searches for that keyword. We DO NOT need that many searches to make a lot of money when we are ranked on page one of Google, so

I went down many of Google's suggestions and found a keyword that I liked which of course was auto bad credit.

The Phrase portion of the Google tool showed about 18,000 searches and the broad portion of the tool showing about 135,000 searches.

This to me was still a bit high but I need to check the other part of the equation which is the competition for that keyword.

How do you do that? great question. I went to the Google search bar and put in "auto bad credit", why in quotations, great question

You see if you just put in your keyword Auto Bad Credit Google will show you that there are over 7 million websites that you are competing

with, that is not a true number. I want page one for Auto Bad Credit not a variation of those words but those words, so "auto bad credit"

That gives me my true competition of around 435,000 websites that have those exact words that I am competing with.

Now 435,000 is still a very high number but as it turns out when I check the websites and blogs on page one for my keyword they were mostly

new sites and blogs. There were no real authority sites and I felt I can get on page one with things I will teach as I go along.

Here are the numbers I usually like to see but remember that the actual competition on page one plays a large role.

I like to see searches around 20,000 and no more competition than 25,000. There are millions of keywords that fit those numbers

any one of which can make you very good money from home.
