U.S. investments in USAID Global Health have resulted in 600M+ people no longer needing treatment for neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) like lymphatic filariasis, trachoma—the leading infectious cause of blindness worldwide—and more. Today on #WorldNTDDay, we recommit to #BeatNTDs.

I have worked throughout my career to beat preventable and treatable suffering. I am a co-founder of the Senate Malaria and Neglected Tropical Disease Caucus. On #WorldNTDDay, we celebrate how far we’ve come and look forward to a future without these devastating diseases.

This year’s #WorldNTDDay theme is #UniteActEliminate. Neglected tropical diseases impact over one billion people, an estimated one-sixth of the world’s population. Together, with citizens, governments, and global partners, we must join forces to #BeatNTDs.
