slavo cech Shaye Ganam Which brought me to my final lesson of the day. We are all connected. We all can help each other out, if we keep our hearts in the right place. Kindness seems to find each other, and good people are far more common than what social media tells us. Be cool and kind my friends.

Yet, here we are, still the lowest funded system in Canada. These new spaces need the resources and people to support our students’ learning. Make it a priority. #stoptheexcuses

Danielle Smith wants to dismantle the human rights of some, putting at risk the human rights of all. Together, we have come to far to let this happen, it is not who we are as Albertans, and nor is this who we are as Canadians. We must continue to be bold and active allies to

Health resource distribution is a powerful tool. When used well it is a foundation for civil society. When wielded for political power it can subjugate women and enslave minorities and control the poor while transferring wealth to billionaires. This government is inhumane.

New episode! We sat down with Alberta Teachers' Association president jason schilling to talk education in Alberta! So you know we also talked about the horrifying "outing" policy set Smith is rolling out. Mr. Schilling didn't hold back. They're going to hurt kids. #abpoli #cdnpoli #abed

This is a critical moment in public education in the province. Education is a human right, and after years of under funding these students are paying the price. #ableg

Where are all of these teachers going to come from? 200,000 new ‘spaces’ for students needs about 8000 teachers. And why do I feel like the so-called ‘accelerator’ is going to accelerate a lot faster for the private and charter schools?

Smith ostensibly just announced K-12 Education Privatization Accelerator Program. UCP govt failing public school kids in Alberta. More than 90% choose public schools but UCP keep choosing to siphon public dollars on Charter and private schools that do not serve the public.

Yes, we need more schools--we've been saying it for years--but those will take years to build. However, we need solutions now to address the current issues like increased class sizes, lack of resources and support for special needs students, and teacher burn out.

The #1 concern I’m hearing about this fall is the need for more space. EPSB is expecting 121,000 students this school year - 6,600 over last year. 38 schools are at or over 100% utilization 81 schools are between 80 - 99% 7 had to use a lottery to manage demand. 1/4

Division wide our utilization is 90% and expected to reach 100% next year. We grew by 100+ new students per week last year. New space at EPSB is urgently needed. Prioritizing is difficult. Modernization/replacement vs new build? New communities or mature ones? 2/3

This lack of space has very real impacts on families, students and staff. Thanks to staff working in schools and ‘behind the scenes’ to welcome students as we try to manage incredible enrolment growth and advocate for an investment in students and public education. 3/3

Did you know... Alberta subsidizes private and charter schools (that can pick & choose which students can attend) at the highest rate amongst all the provinces? 70% to be exact. And yet public schools are desperate for infrastructure, supports, & resources. Fair? Ed Pub Teachers

“Over 90 per cent of Alberta students go to public schools and those are the places the general public can access education. So, we don't want to see private school subsidies. We don't want to see privatization.” - Wing Li, Communications Director calgary.ctvnews.ca/alberta-s-8-6b…

Yes. This. Every single word…. “We must redirect all public dollars back to public schools because they serve the public good.”

#Alberta and #YEG: Try not to get sick ok? Because I just found out yesterday when we called RAAPID to transfer a patient that the hospitals in Edmonton are at 148% capacity. And we haven't even hit influenza/cold/RSV season yet.... 1/x
