It’s finally happening!! We have a packed house for our CANSSI/OFI Workshop and are are working collaboratively (and in person for a few days at last) to advance best practice in state space assessment modelling of complex fisheries and biological data.

Wow! Learned that NSERC Discovery Grants no longer fund Bin J Strong/Strong/Strong for math & stats. That’s a big blow to the math research committee in Canada, with basically no consultation or discussion with the math sciences community. We don’t need another NSF in Canada.

New paper out from our man Raphael, he integrates Sea scallop seafloor habitat data in the Bay of Fundy directly into his spatiotemporal stock assessment modelling framework. The habitat data exists thanks to the wonderful SEAM lab run by @CraigBrown_Dal academic.oup.com/icesjms/articl…
