Painting in progress … Golden has now officially released an alternative to the discontinued Quianacridone Nickel Azo Gold. It’s called Azo Gold and I’m using it here. Looks good!

New painting in progress … I’m using markers to sketch out key lines and establish a rough hierarchy of values. Should be a fun one.

My painting process … questions?

Last fall, my son and I biked from Salzburg to Vienna in Austria. I was particularly struck by the fields of sunflowers growing on the hillsides as we passed through the little villages and farms of the beautiful Wachau Region.

Rough draft …

I’ve got some work to do here yet, but I’m pretty close. I’ll likely remove the unfinished flower to the right of the main flowers and cut down the thin yellow band in the distance. I also need to make a few passes across the flowers and leaves. Fingers crossed!
