It’s out! My REAL convo with AK on the state of college basketball. No “coach speak” here. Andy Kennedy UAB Men's Basketball You can listen to or watch the full episode at podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/now…

“This portal class from January is the first class that we ever bought.” — Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy admits he thought NIL would “go away,” so the Cowboys weren’t really playing the same game as everyone else until this offseason.

Sources: Quarterback Jake Retzlaff is withdrawing from school at BYU. He still plans on transferring and is expected to take a transfer path that does not involve the NCAA Transfer portal. He plans to simply enroll at a new school.

In a letter sent to the NCAA and power conferences Friday, House attorneys believe the denial of NIL collective deals violate the settlement, are requesting a “retraction” of the CSC’s guidance & are threatening to report the wrongdoing to the court bit.ly/460PEsp

Here’s the real question — what it is the valid business purpose requirement being met by the school NIL (rev share) deal?

Ross Dellenger (@rossdellenger) 's Twitter Profile Photo

College leaders are in active negotiations with House attorneys over a major piece of the settlement: whether to permit traditional NIL collective deals. A decision may reshape enforcement and lead to a “softer cap,” Greg Sankey tells Yahoo Sports. yhoo.it/3TLH8WT

2 years ago at SEC Media Days (the last time I was invited to be on Paul’s show), I was pleading for leaders to step up & create a fair legal model for college sports. 2 years later… we still need leaders to step up & create this model. There is indeed a cost of doing nothing!

Another week of new false hopes for leaders to hold on to rather than creating a sustainable model for the future of college athletics. The cost of doing nothing is real and the history books will reflect this in detail when it’s all said and done.

New episode of my podcast out now with UNC AD Bubba Cunningham and we talk about the future of college sports, athlete rights, and how we bring structure to the industry — you can listen at podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/now… Bubba Cunningham

Great convo with North Carolina’s AD about how college athletics can eventually get to a place where there’s legal certainty and stability for the industry. That’s what everyone wants. There are just differences of opinion on the best way/structure to get there.
