It is disappointing that the top leader of our country tries to insinuate that the men on the First Fleet had it hard too. As an Aboriginal person it is discouraging that the Prime Minister can make a statement like that.

To trivialise all the atrocities that our people suffered and still suffer is hurtful and disrespectful to our First Peoples. These sorts of statements do little to aid reconciliation and just reinforce the view that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are not included.
