Live-tweeting Karthik Muralidharan's presentation on state capacity at NEUDC. Simple story of India's economy: - Top 10% drives demand and growth - Next 30-40% in service sector jobs supporting the top 10% - remaining 50% left out, supported by welfare programs Seems suboptimal 1/n

Econ folks. I have not yet updated modern diference-in-differences literature for a couple of months. Any new survey articles should I check?

🚨Updated working paper! 🚨 I am happy to have the latest draft of this paper out. My coauthor, Jordan Adamson, and I created a new dataset on ancient battles in the ancient Mediterranean and we used it to examine conflict between 600 and 30 BCE. 🧵below: #EconTwitter

A really interesting and value-adding experiment by UCSB PhD student on the rookie AP PhD market, Dario Trujano Ochoa . Looks at demand-side demand for better info in Mexico (almost all social media studies in US, Europe).

Just read a history book mentioning there was a great migration wave in the United States especially to the western coast, related to wartime production, and there was a federal agency established to monitor this process. Any econ paper study this?
