Even bigger problem was that the bill they voted down was also a shutdown bill, designed to go nowhere & do nothing but give them a blame-shifting fig leaf. IRL it would have been quick, cascading catastrophe. All they have to do: stick by the McCarthy deal 2/3 of them voted for.
