While it is entertaining and the cast has many strong qualities, the Broadway-bound production of #TheWiz is sorely lacking in its direction and its musical direction. The continuity is weak, the staging is bland and the visuals have promise.

John Fisher's new play "Billy" is a very fun time, an action-packed adventure of two spies going after an assassin. Currently playing Theatre Rhinoceros, this adventure has 2 spies chasing an assasin around the world. Great train scene.

#CostofLiving by #MartynaMajok is an incredible play about humanity, about how people can and do take care of each other. OaklandTheaterProject presents this #Pulitzerwinner in a lovely fluid production that touches the heartstrings.

Oh, golly, #Kooza, the most recent incarnation of a Cirque du Soleil show I saw in 2008, had me just in a period of joy when I was there and when left. The Wheel of Death performance was so elaborate that I felt anxious myself, which doesn't usually happen. So much fun!

#Circus is in my blood, and never is this more apparent than when I am watching a circus show, such as #BEWAREAMonstrousCircus, performed by the youth of Kinetic Arts Center So many apparatus. So much talent!

#thewitchofblackbirdpond is a #Newburymedal winner. A striking book set in 1687, of an outsider in a Puritan community. Note to Puritans: there are other kinds of Christians whose faith is just as powerful as yours. The heroine Kit is remarkable and worth learning about.

#JackParlett's novel #FireIsland comes across as an outsider's observation of the summer resort island outside of New York City that catered to artists, and mostly wealthyish gay white men. It's a big picture exploration covering decades. Hard to engage.

#TheEyesandtheImpossible is the most recent #NewberyMedal winner, and for good reason. Set in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park (although not named), this wonderful story chronicles the experiences of Johannes, a feral dog in the park. Thumbs up!
