Loved seeing Ss at Oliver Beach ES using barcodes to program Meet Edison bots to follow a light, avoid obstacles, and play bumper cars! Overheard: “it didn’t avoid it because it’s clear and can’t see it.” Thanks @OBES_LIB for teaching #bcps_csi and Computational Thinking.

1st graders at Chadwick Elementary are using ScratchJr to illustrate a story sequence. Today they typed text & illustrated the settings using clip art & paint features. Next time they will add a photo of a place in their school building & begin coding! #BCPS_CSI BCPS CTE Office

So much great computer science happening at Mays Chapel ES! BirdBrain Technologies with #microbit to design 🤖, using #Wixie to illustrate IPSO, writing to explain wireless communication, using Ozobot to illustrate digital safety & educate peers on 🐝, +more! #BCPS_CSI BCPS CTE Office

Loved seeing & hearing 2nd grade future computer scientists at Hawthorne Elementary use ScratchJr Message blocks to illustrate how computers encode & decode information. “The code is data” & “The computer is processing [the data].” I also got to see a chick hatch! #bcps_csi BCPS CTE Office

So impressed by the hard work of future computer scientists on display at the Mays Chapel ES STEM Night. Robots made using BirdBrain Technologies, mice programmed to navigate mazes, Ozobot illustrating pollination & map navigation, and Makey Makey instruments! #BCPS_CSI BCPS CTE Office

3rd grade future computer scientists at Sparks ES are programming in partners and learning how to use Parallelism and Multiple Events to make their Scratch Team sprites move in their stories. #BCPS_CSI BCPS CTE Office

Why were second graders at Catonsville Elem stacking plastic cups? Because these future computer scientists were using symbols & sequences to write algorithms that their “robot” friends could execute successfully. I loved hearing them debug their code. #bcps_csi BCPS CTE Office

PreK computer scientists at Hawthorne Elementary learned about Rosa Parks and then used algorithms to make Colby the mouse act out her bus boycott. Future computer engineers in 3rd grade used Makey Makey hardware to control different software. #BCPS_CSI BCPS CTE Office
