If a governor candidate is taking advise from WSRA whose lobbied against laws for Dyslexia it’s a problem. States that are adopting science of reading practices are moving the needle while Wi has the worst record for African Americans on reading in the country.

The current Press of Wi State Reading Association recommending Ken Goodman - considered the father of whole language. When Act 20 passed she said that these practices were coming under scrutiny. And seeking help on BAS an assessment with 3 cueing. Wi Teachers Deserve Better

Not sure if this counts as 'different' but... If a pupil can't decode after plenty of high-quality instruction, the appropriate response should be to assess what aspect(s) of decoding they are struggling with and target this with explicit teaching and plenty of practice. >>

My school had all the third graders write about their favorite Xmas and published all of them in the local paper without editing. My dyslexic daughter’s is riddled with spelling mistakes. I’m kind of angry about it- Anyone else with a dyslexic kid feel like that’s not ok?

This news story does. Good job of quickly showing Why the Reading Community shouldn’t be using programs like Reading Recovery. atlantanewsfirst.com/2024/12/10/geo…

Or they say Cueing works. When someone tells you that cueing improves comp what they are telling you is that pics and context helps make a better guesser but if they can’t provide ORF data the study is flawed. ORF is one of the most reliable measures of reading we have.
