Third graders are exploring numbers from 1-1000 this week. I created a (very simple) bitmoji classroom with a random number generator in Scratch Team and had students fill out blank hundreds charts out of order. We had fun! sites.google.com/gnspes.ca/numg… #edtech CB-VRCE_NS CBVRCE Tech Integration

We're still exploring number sense from 1 to 1000. Third graders were tasked with counting large quantities of beans today. They very quickly realized it could be made easier with skip counting! #edchat

A4: sometimes word study in third grade can get bland. Tech integration (looking at you Wordwall) has helped! I think incorporating more whole body movements would be fun. Have student create blends with body shapes and have Tt and Ss guess what they are #PubPDAsia

We're learning about how to count money in Gr3. Sometimes it's hard to find Canadian coin related activities. I took pictures of coins on black paper, created assets in Canva and then made a Blooket for students to practice counting coins. Def leveled up skills!#edtech

I have accepted I just cannot maintain a class set of magnetic letter boards πŸ˜…πŸ˜…. Gr3s worked in pairs to read and build words ending with consonant clusters using a Magnetic Letter Google Jamboard. No letters were lost in this activity πŸ™ƒ

Gr3s are dipping their toes into research. I curated videos, books on Get Epic, and info in kid friendly language on a Google site. I found this so much less chaotic to introduce researching a topic! The Ss did a great job according to all the interesting facts they told me!

Gr3s were creating referents to better estimate how many papers would we need to cover the entire classroom floor in paper. Lots of great discussion and strategies shared!

Cheers to my husband Dominic O'Driscoll for building worm bins and trusting them to my third grade classroom for the school year! Kids will be composting all year and using the casting as fertilizer in the Spring #elementary #gardening #science

Gr3s were so motivated to research about worms as we begin an inquiry into soil. They are learning about how to care for the class worm bin. #inquiry #elementary #science

I didn't get any good pictures but the Gr3s learned to create a game in Scratch with the help of Kids Code Jeunesse by/par Digital Moment on Thursday. If you're a Canadian teacher I HIGHLY recommend booking a free workshop. The instructors are fantastic and the Ss loved it. #edtech #MITscratch

We are solving problems with unknown variables in math. Gr3s built games in Scratch Team to test players skills in problem solving. #kidscoding #edtech #elementary

I had the pleasure of sharing #CSEdWeek with ES, MS, and HS students today. I think programming with paper in Gr1 might have been the most fun though!
