Yesterday I joined the meeting between the Mahurangi Oyster Farmers and Watercare. They have been severely impacted by sewage spills into the Mahu River. Temporary fix to the Elizabeth St pipe by end of Sept, poss a few weeks earlier at best. For some this will be too late.

At the end of August Watercare cancelled a meeting with Aquaculture NZ who are negotiating on behalf of the Mahurangi oyster farmers. Watercare says they have had no further funding conversations with their board regarding support for the oyster farmers. rnz.co.nz/news/national/…
