Former EPA regional administrator Judith Enck says many questions remain about the health and environmental impacts of the toxic train disaster in East Palestine, Ohio. The EPA needs to "put public health protection front and center," says Judith Enck.

1/ An important exchange just happened during a hearing on Maryland's #ProducerResponsibility for Packaging bill. Questions were raised about the level of producer control over the program. This conversation is happening in every state considering this type of program. Quick🧵

This is incredibly frustrating. The same exact thing happened last year! Despite the House and the Senate voting overwhelmingly in favor of the bill they failed to get it to the Governor before the end of the session. Beyond Plastics Just Zero CRI #BreakFreeFromPlastic

Elizabeth Balkan of Reloop explains how beverage brand owners can actually save money by switching from single-use containers to refillable bottles. #biggerbetterbottlebill After 40 years of NY's bottle bill, it’s time for a Bigger, Better Bottle Bill (S237).

With NYS Senator Pete Harckham, sponsor of the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act for a hearing with the Joint Committee on Environmental Conservation. SB4246 requires a 50% packaging REDUCTION in 12 years.

We have to take meaningful action to curtail the massive amounts of plastic waste we produce daily. Passing my Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act will cut single-use plastic waste by 50% in the next 12 years.

Check out my comments in EHN: ehn.org/chemical-recyc… about closure of Fulcrum's Nevada chemical recycling plant. They were gasifying mixed waste (aka garbage)--spent a fortune and still failed. We need to stop making so much single-use plastic to avoid boondoggles like this.
