This week is #DeafAwarenessWeek. In celebration, we had a few of our deaf education teachers present a morning message for each day this week. Did you know the Brazos Valley Regional Day School for the Deaf is located in Bryan ISD? The program serves 31 districts in the region.

Naveen Cunha is the TEXAS SECONDARY TEACHER OF THE YEAR! At today’s TASA Awards Ceremony in Round Rock, the Bryan ISD and SFA Middle School teacher was announced as the Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year! Ginger Carrabine

Congratulations to Joel Bryan, the newest member of the #BryanISDBoardOfTrustees, serving in the At-Large Place 6 position. Today, the board canvassed the Nov. 7 election results, making them official. Dr. Julie Harlin will continue serving on the board in the SMD 2 position.

More than 250 educators joined us for the Texas Early Childhood Summit and Texas Play and Development Conference — two days of learning and workshops highlighting innovative research and advocacy tailored to early childhood development and education. We thank all who attended!

Rudder High School Read 180 teacher and track & field coach Jihad Wright was surprised this morning in his classroom as he was awarded the Read 180 Outstanding Educator Award. He gave credit to the students who put in the work that led to the national recognition.

Coach Wright said he typically has a lot of words, but was left speechless at the national award. Rudder Principal Rachel Layton said Coach Wright is a great example to the students and shows in the classroom and on the track what it means to care about kids in the community.

It was a fun day for the students at the Brazos Valley Regional Day School Program for the Deaf! Students had the opportunity to play games, do crafts, get their face painted, and meet special guests from Aggieland Safari and the Bryan Fire Department. Ginger Carrabine
